Chief Technology Officer

We are a pre-funding web 2.0 start-up focused on the travel info and mobile content space. We are growing and offer an fast paced environment for hard working, fun loving travel junkies who envision how the Internet and the mobile web will combine to change the world. We are at the forefront of innovative technologies in the world of travel, content sharing and advertising.

As CTO, you will help define strategy and develop and maintain the technical architecture (back and front end) of Geogad's Internet and mobile web services. You will be responsible for the technology supporting this marketplace and will guide the technical vision. You don't have to have a start-up background but must have an entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to work directly on important projects. The successful candidate must have an intrinsic and technical understanding of the social media space, Web 2.0, mobile web and how content is consumed and enjoyed on the Web. You should be deeply grounded in digital photo, audio and/or video formats, conversions and delivery but must also understand the business and commercial needs of a successful Web site. You must be able to work fast, remain flexible, and be able to personally execute details in a 'hands on' manner to a very high standard.

• Graduate degree (MS or PhD) in EECS, CS or related field preferred or BS with a few years of highly relevant programming experience
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and programming skills
• Some experience programming for mobile content and/or mobile device applications
• Knowledge / interest / experience in web 2.0 environment with exposure to typical online sites such as Facebook, Yelp, Craigslist etc.
• Risk taker who is willing to have equity as part of comp package

• Web architecture and application design capability
• Technical project planning and scoping (timeline and deliverables)
• Experience programming in Model-View-Control architecture
• Front end languages like HTML, DHTML, CSS, Javascript and AJAX
• Object-Oriented design skills, knowledge e.g., Python, Java, J2EE, J2ME, Objective-C, Ruby etc
• Database design skills (SQL knowledge)
• Open standards orientation
• Testing knowledge and experience
• Linux server installation, maintenance, and upgrades

• Familiarity with photo, audio and video editing tools
• Familiarity with programming/design for mobile devices
• Good communication abilities and ability to work closely with others in a collaborative environment
• Analytics and database mining experience
