Today is December 25. For some of you it is Christmas Day, and I wish you a wonderful Christmas surrounded by all the best, whether it is the best of food, friends, family, love, or presents.

For many people, Christmas is just another day. For others, it is a day for spending with friends, but it does not hold any religious significance. The differences with which people view Christmas is just highlights the lessons of understanding and tolerance that you can gain from examining other people’s points of view. None of these very different points of view are wrong. They just highlight how the 6 billion people on this planet have an individual way of living.

Travel actually celebrates the differences in ways of living. Otherwise, why would you want to travel long distances in uncomfortable situations if everything was just like it was back home.

Spend a little time today considering how valuable travelers with their flow of ideas has been over time. Even your own travels, which may not have been so earth shattering as those of famous explorers, probably touched others in ways that you are completely unaware. To paraphrase that famous Frank Capra film, you’ve had some wonderful travels.
